About this Event
These pocketbooks are based on the tradition of Chinese needlewomen’s keepsake books. Their books are often made from fabric and can have up to 19 or 20 pockets. These hidden folds and pockets are used to hold small-scale sewing equipment and fabric scraps, as well as family photos.
As a tribute to this tradition, each participant will learn to fold up to 10 pockets for their book, finish it with a fabric cover and create their own unique piece of book art. These books would make a perfect festive gift for a friend or loved one.
The workshop will be led by artist Isabell Buenz.
No experience of book making required. All materials will be provided.
