Traci O. Connor has advanced degrees in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Utah (with an emphasis in Monster Theory) and has published stories, non-fiction, and prose poetry in lots of places, including the Mid-American Review, Superstition Review, LIT Magazine, Versal, The Pinch, a short story collection, RECIPES FOR ENDANGERED SPECIES, with Tarpaulin Sky Press, and ~30 other journals and anthologies. She’s a former college basketball player, roller derby girl, radio show host, construction worker, and car-wash attendant. Currently, she writes, teaches and coordinates ESL and writing workshop courses for underserved and less-confident students at the University of Pittsburgh, and design/renovates broke-down old houses.
Jackson Connor lives and builds in Pittsburgh with his spouse and youngest child. Later today, he’ll likely set a tub and hang some Hardiebacker, finish prepping for tile. In other moments, he worked as a firewatch in an oil refinery, a scale pusher in a steel mill, a hoddie on a masonry crew, and a laborer for a half dozen other builders. His writing has been published in heaps of journals, including Appalachian Heritage, North American Review, AGNI, River Teeth, and Passages North. Appalachian Heritage awarded him essay of the year for his piece “Speaking of Lineage,” and his essay “Rara Avis: How to Tell a True Bird Story” was a notable essay in the Best American Essays Series. His Ph.D. is from Ohio University, and he is willing to sell it to anyone who will pay off the balance of his student loans, OBO.
JEFF TAYLOR released his debut LP ‘A Deeper Kind’ in Spring 2022. The album features drummer Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, St. Vincent) and bassist Jesske Hume (Conor Oberst, Margaret Glaspy), and was produced by John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile, Waxahatchee). 2014’s ‘Organelle’ EP marked Taylor’s first solo release and was produced by Thomas Bartlett (Taylor Swift, St. Vincent, Rufus Wainwright). In 2018, Taylor co-fronted distinguished composer Marike van Dijk‘s ‘Stereography Project,’ touring the United States and Europe and featuring van Dijk’s arrangements of Taylor’s songs for a 12-piece wind-and-string ensemble. From 2017-2019, Jeff wrote and recorded with the Donny McCaslin Group (David Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’ band), embarking on an extensive world tour.
Taylor first gained notice with the independent release of his first effort under the name Dumpster Hunter, 2012’s Frustration in Time Travel, produced by John Siket (Blonde Redhead, Phish, Dave Matthews Band) and Steve Wall (Lucius, Mark Guiliana, Gretchen Parlato).
