About this Event
Bonfire is a multi-generational storytelling event held the first week of every month at the Chico Women's Club. September's theme is "I DISSENT" and each person will interpret that in any direction they choose with a 10 minute personal and true story.
Storytellers:
Decade Teen: Phoebe Parks (She/Her) is a Junior at Inspire School of Arts and Sciences who loves to embrace both the arts and sciences…
Decade 20's: Nimai Buroz is a 29-year-old Venezuelan who’s thrilled to be back home after some time away. With a solid background in the food industry, he’s always been passionate about cooking, hospitality, and exploring new culinary experiences. Outside of work, he enjoys coffee dates, hitting the gym, and finding unique treasures while thrift shopping. You might also catch him zipping through the streets on his electric bike, embracing the hustle and energy of the city. Always on the go, Nimai is living life to the fullest and appreciating every moment back in his home town
Decade 30's: Lianna Camp (she/her) - Born & raised in Houston Tx, she’s a lil bundle of southern charm. After moving up, down and all around the country, Chico sent a whisper through the trees letting her know she was home.
She’s a lover of tchotchkes, crafting and hoarding clothes. Princess of the feral cats and mother to 5 indoor felines.
Lianna tends to be optimistic about most things. Always viewing her chalice as half full.
She’s a childcare extraordinar, lunar witch and the face of the phrase “short story long”
Decade 40’s: Denver Nash (he/him/his) is thrilled to be a part of this December Bonfire gathering. He hopes that this evening of personal stories can help to bring us together as a community and celebrate the differences that make our local area so special. Denver is a Butte county native who frequently appears on local stages with Theatre on the Ridge, Chico Theater Company, California Regional Theater, First Street Theater, and Uncle Dad's Art Collective. Denver was also the first-place winner of the Bonfire Multi-Generational Storytelling Slam Event in May 2024. Denver is a proud graduate of the Todd International Theatre Program at the University of Rochester. He is currently in his final year of graduate school at CSU Chico pursuing a Master of Social Work degree to become a licensed therapist. He wants to thank his family, friends, and social work cohort members for their constant cheerleading along with all the patrons who support him and offer kind words at his performances.
Decade 60’s: Golden Sizemore (she/her) I am the mother of 4 children, grown and own their own and grandmother of two. I am a graduate of Chico State with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and currently employed as a case manager at the Jesus Center working with unhoused families.
Decade 70’s: Idie Adams is a New York City native, helped develop the Ceramics and Gallery Programs at Butte College for 34 years, has traveled throughout many exotic
countries, lives on a 20 acre olive tree farm with her artist husband Alan and two
dogs. They have an extensive quirky art and vintage paraphernalia collection.
She writes short “slice of life” stories to empty her mind of the chaos in her brain
as well as to reflect upon the absurdity in the world.
