3/4 of ALO converge with three other world-class musicians for an innovative Paul Simon dance experience in a spectacular outdoor setting.
About this Event

Hey people with excellent taste in music! This is Tyler Blue, the music director for the legendary Crazy Horse Saloon. During the pandemic when we couldn’t do indoor shows, I started producing events at a spectacular outdoor property called Rosebud Ranch. Located just five miles from downtown Nevada City, this natural amphitheater is a stone’s throw from the Old 49 Bridge on the South Yuba River. It’s one of those special places on earth where your mood feels instantly elevated once setting foot on the land. An evening at Rosebud is like a full reboot for the soul!

Over the last four years, it has become a coveted destination for music lovers seeking a space that seems to exist in a realm parallel to reality where imagination takes flight into blissful frontiers. It’s a very relaxed setting where many people set up chairs and blankets on the hillside, bring their own food and beverages, meet new friends and just soak up the vibes. Dancers love the spongey astro turf dancefloor which invites freedom of movement unlike any other. Rosebud is an all-ages venue where the music starts early around 7 and ends by 11. The bonfire will be roaring and magic will be afoot.

For the final show of the season, we have something extra special for you. Hatched many years ago from the brilliant mind of master innovator, guitarist Reed Mathis (Billy & the Kids), I am thrilled to present Bone Diggers. “Paul Simon Dance Jams” are served up as a multi-course meal of dynamic, musical intrigue. This is no ordinary tribute band; not by a longshot! You’ll witness these classic songs soar into the stratosphere in ways beyond simple comprehension.

The band features three of the four members of ALO including the iconic Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz on guitar, Steve Adams on bass and Ezra Lipp on percussion. Holding down the funky pocket on drums will be Scott Rager (Tea Leaf Green). Weaving melodic moonbeams and exploring the sonic cosmos on keys, we have the great Mookie Siegel (David Nelson Band). This will be Lebo’s third visit to Rosebud Ranch, having previously performed here with magicgravy and Lebo & Friends. So that tells you how he feels about it!

Bone Diggers only play a handful of shows each year, so don’t miss this rare opportunity to see them in action. Each of the last two years, they have been pegged as the penultimate band performing late night after Phish at Dick’s at Cervante’s in Denver. That says a lot! After seeing them initially at the Crazy Horse Saloon many years ago, my appreciation for the music of Paul Simon catapulted into a whole new dimension. Songs from Graceland, Rhythm of the Saints and the older catalog were reinvented with a heavy infusion of heartfelt, improvisational splendor. There’s a lesser-known song from Rhythm called “The Coast” which is still reverberating in my soul from their version six years ago at the Crazy Horse and I can only hope they’ll play it on this night. The wide-open space of Rosebud is sure to bring out their very best as it does for every band that plays here.

The exact location of Rosebud Ranch and all the details needed for attendance will be emailed to you within a couple days of your ticket purchase. If you prefer to pay cash in person, tickets will also be available for purchase soon at the Crazy Horse Saloon. Venmo will also be an option to avoid fees (@CrazyHorseNC). If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] (crazy without an “a”). I look forward to sharing this unicorn of an experience with you!
