An afternoon of Puerto Rican culture, with emphasis on Afro-Puerto Rican music known as Plena and Bomba. This event will feature "Boricua y de Mayagüez" during their East Coast Tour sponsored by Mid Atlantic Arts and Maryland Humanities. Boricua y de Mayagüez is an exciting ensemble that is packed with exceedingly talented Plena and Bomba practitioners. Each of the 14 members is a master in their own right in varied aspects of these traditions (drumming, singing, dancing), and when they perform together with Boricua y de Mayagüez the resulting performance is larger than the sum of its parts.
Completing the experience of this event will be great Puerto Rican cuisine, beverages, and craft artisans
