About this Event
I am so thrilled to host another class! As always, we'll be vibing to a mix of Bollywood, Hip Hop, and Latin beats. So get ready to pop it, drop it, and shake what yo mama gave you.
Once again, here are all the details for my classes:
Level
My class is open to ALL levels! I usually calibrate my classes to an intermediate pace (or what I’m seeing in the room.) I break everything down to a science, so beginners can feel comfortable and advance dancers can pick up nuances and textures.
Teaching Style
I’m not just going to show you the choreo; I’m going to “build” it for you. In other words, for each movement you’ll see how the technique comes to life body part by body part, making it very easy to process. I’ll do the choreo for you several times, but often I will also watch, so I can actually provide you with feedback and help refine the nuances.
Community
I am ALL about community, so I really try to get to know my students and for you all to get to know each other. Not everyone is a crazy extrovert like me, so I like to find different ways during class for us to get introduced while still staying focused on the learning process. This is meant to be an inclusive environment where you can feel comfortable pushing yourself out of your comfort zone around people that will support you.

Devika Dhawan is the Founder/Choreographer of DFD Academy, a Boston-based dance academy. Trained in Bharatnatyam, Hip Hop, and Bollywood, she uses her diverse experience to create movement that's focused on speaking with your body. With over a decade of experience teaching dance, Devika has refined her ability to translate choreography and encourage confidence in her students, no matter their level. Her workshops are all about learning to picking up nuances in rhythm and musicality, stepping out of your comfort zone, and getting animated.
