Incorporated in 1960, the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra is the successor to the Boise Civic Symphony and a long line of predecessor organizations going back to the Boise Philharmonic Society of the 1880s. As Idaho’s largest and oldest performing arts organization, the Boise Philharmonic performs for over 50,000 people annually in concerts at the Morrison Center, the Brandt Center in Nampa, The Egyptian, in schools across the valley and in smaller recital halls and venues.The 77-member professional orchestra performs 14 Masterworks concerts, three Pops concerts, a four-concert Chamber series and various stand-alone performances each season. Repertoire is selected from masters like Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Brahms and Mozart, as well as modern composers like John Williams and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Phil has also commissioned new works by Idaho composers Jim Cockey and David Alan Earnest.
