“I BELIEVE: The Music of Bonds, Poulenc and Shaw”
Experience a powerful musical journey at Boise State University's Spring "Masterworks" concert! Join us as the Combined Choirs and Symphony Orchestra perform captivating pieces by Margaret Bonds, Francis Poulenc, and Caroline Shaw.
Shaw's "To the Hands" causes us to examine the wounds inflicted on Christ, ourselves and others–particularly displaced people, while Poulenc's "Litanies à la Vierge noire" offers a prayer for mercy amid loss. Margaret Bonds's "Credo" echoes the powerful words of civil rights icon W. E. B. Du Bois, proclaiming equality and denouncing oppression. Don't miss this unforgettable evening of music and reflection!
Featuring Dr. Richard Hutton and Prof. Craig Purdy, conductors, Jack Gardner, guest conductor, and Dr. Christina Mancheni and Ryan Gage, soloists.
General admission tickets are $10 + fees. Admission is FREE for all students, Boise State staff and faculty with school ID.
