Come witness the "Super Bowl of Dance" and be a part of the Global Dance Community called "Body Rock Dance Competition". After being on hiatus for 3 years due to the Pandemic, the show that inspired "World of Dance" and "America's Best Dance Crew" is back!!! We decided to call the event "Body Rock Resurrection" since we are bringing both events back to life. The 4 hour International Dance Competition begins with a Junior division (Body Rock Junior) at 4pm and closes with the Adult division (Body Rock) at 6pm - 9pm. You cannot miss the amazing performances and representation from dance teams all over the world - as they battle it out for the first place title!!!

Body Rock Evolution:

What began as a fundraiser for an audience of 300 on a gym floor in the early 2000's has now grown into a global phenomenon!!! In its early stages, then Artistic Director of Culture Shock SD (Anna Sarao), invited dance teams/crews from Northern California to Southern California to compete in San Diego. The teams each had specific dance styles, moves, music and culture. This was the first time San Diego dancers had experienced such a creative and exciting vibe, and the show was a hit! Determined to be a platform for up and coming artists in the SOCAL dance community, the show gained notoriety for the amazing routines and performances each year. The judges were all respected choreographers. The lineup included local teams from the community, and the experience of being with a loud and active audience was connective and exciting! Dancers from our community would soon gain a global audience and fan base. From the likes of Kaba Modern, Keone & Mari Madrid, to the Jabbawockeez and the viral video of Just Jerk Crew - our community has exploded into popular culture.

In addition, the invention of YouTube in the mid 2000's, inspired the global audience (who watched the show online) to apply to participate. In 2010, the Shi*kingz from Japan, became the first International team to win the competition. And this soon elevated the event to International status. Teams from China, Germany, London, New Zealand, Philippines, Canada, Korea and more... have all brought their best creative sets to be a part of the event. And the lineup just gets better every year!

As the event grew, in 2007 the Junior Division of Body Rock was formed by then Producer, Kevin Sioco, to highlight the junior dance team community. The kids, believe it or not, are even more competitive and hard working than the adults! It is pure magic to watch the younger generation perform and leave their hearts on that stage! International junior teams from Japan, Mexico, Philippines, New Zealand, and Germany have also come to participate.

And finally, in 2019 just before the Pandemic, Body Rock expanded to include a qualifier event for Asia called "Body Rock Asia". Produced by Acts Events Company, this event is the ultimate dance qualifier for the show - featuring over 100 applicants and then 40 teams which compete to be one of the top 3 to win a spot to compete at Body Rock USA.
