About this Event
Connection Beyond Words
K¡nk isn’t just about what we say—it’s about how we listen, observe, and connect beyond words. Whether you’re navigating a scene with a Deaf partner, exploring sensory deprivation, or simply curious about deepening nonverbal connection, this workshop will expand how you approach play.
Join Mae & Nix for a unique workshop blending American Sign Language (ASL) with k¡nk sensory exploration. We’ll start with an introductory ASL lesson, including kinky signs, consent phrases, and how to navigate play spaces with Deaf individuals. Then, we’ll shift into the world of nonverbal communication in k¡nk—exploring sensory play, primal dynamics, and alternative ways to command attention and build immersive, wordless scenes.
By the end of this workshop, you’ll not only have a better understanding of ASL in a k¡nk setting but also a deeper appreciation for play that transcends language.**ASL Interpreted
💡 What We’ll Explore:
🤟 ASL for K¡nk & Consent – Learn kinky signs, how to spell your name, and phrases used in play spaces. Understand how to engage respectfully with Deaf individuals in a scene.
🧠 The Art of Attention – Explore how shifting attention and focus can deepen a scene, and how removing one sense heightens others.
🔍 Flow & Nonverbal Communication – Learn how to navigate scenes without spoken words, using body language, rhythm, and intuitive connection.
👀 Playing with Sensory Deprivation – Experience guided activities that challenge reliance on verbal cues, such as blindfolded and silent exercises.
🔥 Primal Play: K¡nk Without Words – Discover how primal play transcends speech, allowing connection through movement, breath, and sensation.
🎭 Live Demonstration: Scene-Building Without Words – Watch Mae & Nix co-create a scene using negotiation, play, and aftercare—all without verbal language.
🗣️ Discussion & Reflection – Share observations, ask questions, and explore how to integrate these lessons into your own play.
Workshop Format:
Discussion and Practical Exercises: The workshop will include a mix of discussions and hands-on exercises. You'll have the chance to interact with others, practice communication techniques, and receive feedback.
Solo and Group Work:
- Attend solo or bring someone along. Couples can stay paired or choose to practice with others.
- You’ll have opportunities to practice with both familiar partners and new acquaintances to replicate established dynamics and/or pickup scene scenarios.
- Expect communication-based exercises and optionally negotiated non-sexual touch. You can also opt-out at any time and observe others!
- More physical practice will be reserved for the Jam portion afterward.
- We won’t assign partners—guests are encouraged to connect at their comfort level.
- Dress Code: Feel free to dress however you want, whether vanilla or ready to practice. There is a spot to change if you need.
Jam After the Workshop:
Stick around for our jam session. This is your chance to put what you’ve learned into action, trying out your new skills on dungeon furniture in a supportive setting. The lights go down, the music goes up, and playtime begins! Nix will be available for feedback, scenes, or additional guidance to solidify the workshop’s learning in a hands-on, playful environment. Participate at your own comfort level - whether that means observing, chatting, or playing with others.
