About this Event

Bodies and Faces: Artist Talk & Write with Suzanne Pickett
An Intimate Afternoon of Art, Writing, and Connection

Join us for a special Sunday afternoon in community as we gather in the living room of a historic Riverside home to connect through art, story, and shared reflection.

This intimate event invites us to explore what it means to be seen—not just for our bodies and faces, but for who we truly are. Together, we’ll sit in conversation and writing circle with Suzanne Pickett, mixed-media artist, community builder, and Zora Neale Hurston Fellow, whose work Bodies and Faces: The Art of Being Seen reveals the layered beauty of being known from the inside out.

We’ll begin by listening as Suzanne shares insights and stories behind her art—how she constructs her figures from fragments of memory, texture, and meaning. Then we’ll write in response, reflecting on what it feels like to be visible, vulnerable, and valued as women and as whole human beings.

Afterward, we’ll share wine, dessert, and other small delights as we continue the conversation—breaking bread togetherand deepening into the question of what it means to see and be seen with compassion, curiosity, and connection.

Schedule

2:00 p.m. | Welcome and overview
2:10 p.m. | Artist talk with Suzanne Pickett
2:30 p.m. | Writing circle and sharing
3:30 p.m. | Wine, dessert, and conversation

Come be part of this heartfelt afternoon of art, writing, and sisterhood, surrounded by beauty and grounded in authenticity. Together, we’ll honor one another—not for appearances, but for the stories, strength, and spirit that live within us.
