Step up to the mezzanine for an afternoon of old-time Kansas music, familiar Christmas tunes, storytelling, and good company. π«π£ On Sunday, December 21 from 1β2 PM, weβre excited to welcome Bodarc β the acoustic duo of musicians Derrick Doty and Bob Atchison β for a live set of traditional and holiday tunes to help ease into the holiday spirit. ππ
Rooted in the musical traditions of Kansas and the Midwest, Bodarc blends fiddle tunes, harmonica, banjo, guitar, and thoughtful storytelling to explore how everyday Kansans shaped the rhythms of our state. Their set features traditional tunes, holiday folk music, and stories that carry the spirit of early house dances, parlor gatherings, and prairie celebrations. πΆπΎ
About the musicians:
β Derrick Doty is a Manhattan-based writer, historian, and 2023 State Banjo Champion. His research and performances highlight the overlooked musical traditions of Kansas, drawing from years of community storytelling and historical study.
β Bob Atchison has been playing old-time Americana music for over 45 years. A former State Fiddling champion and longtime performer across Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas, Bob brings depth, warmth, and wit to every tune.
