NORDO, or No Radio, is a condition seldom addressed in FAA publications like the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, the Instrument Flying Handbook, or the AIM.
AIM 6-4-1 states that "pilots are expected to exercise good judgment in whatever action they elect to take." This is as vague as "When in doubt, do the right thing."

Fred Simonds is a CFII and former Assistant Chief Flight Instructor at Palm Beach Flight Training at Lantana Airport. First licensed in 1978, he retired with over 5,000 hours of flight time, much of which was instrument instruction. Since 2008, he has been a contributing editor, formerly with IFRR and IFR magazine. His presentation this evening is based on his writings and personal experience.
