BOC Goes Camping

Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or a total newbie who would like to try a new outdoor adventure, BOC has the perfect opportunity for you.

Black Ottawa Connect invites you to make the most of summer with a camping trip that includes hiking, water activities, games, campfires and, of course, fun…all in with amazing Black adults!

You don't have camping equipment? No problem! To make our lives and access to this event easier, we are collaborating with Ottawa Outdoor Gear Library to provide you with all the camping essentials, so NO EXCUSES :)!

Here's what you need to know…

· When: August 10 at 12:30 p.m. until August 11 at 2 p.m.

· Location: Rideau River Provincial Park (2680 Donnelly Dr., Kemptville, ON)

· Cost of the activity: $50. This includes transportation, parking, camping gear, site and river craft rentals.

· What to bring: In collaboration with OOGL, BOC will provide all the camping essentials (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, stoves, dishes and more). If you wish to bring your own gear, you are welcome to do so. You will still need to bring your own personal items including food and drinks. We also encourage you to bring games that can be played with the group.

· Who can come: This event is strictly for Black adults who want to have fun with members of our community. Please note that we have a limited number of spaces and we're pretty sure we will sell out. Don't wait too long to sign up!

· How to get there: We will provide a carpooling system. Please indicate in the ticket section if you would like to be a volunteer driver or if you need a ride. The meeting point for departure is the Ottawa Outdoor Gear Library (877a Boyd Ave). This will facilitate the gear pick up and loading of the vehicles.

Communications will be sent out later in the summer to make logistical arrangements and to share additional information about preparing for the camping (detailed list of belongings, tips and tricks, group breakdown, schedule, etc.).
