Learn about the common problems and special needs of Bobtails or Shingleback Lizards. This course covers handling, housing, hydration, feeding, isolation and the assessment and response to the different conditions and injuries commonly seen in wildlife care.
The course covers
• Statistics for injuries, illnesses & vitals
• Bobtail handling
• Admission, assessment, hydration and triage
• Vivarium set up, temperatures and signs
• Hospital, isolation and quarantine stages
• Bobtail upper respiratory tract infections
• Faecal testing and common parasites
Pregnant and baby bobtails
• Correct feeding over different stages
Please note that Kanyana's procedures are discussed in detail, but they are replicable in other care settings.
This course is designed for
• Kanyana volunteers who are completing their New Rehab Volunteer Competencies, or any other volunteers with an interest in this species
• Wildlife volunteers at other centres
• Vet or vet nurse students
