On Saturday, February 21st CAFÉ VIVOLI (across from The Laugh Factory on Sunset) presents a night of old school Los Angeles Blues, Rhythm & Blues with BOBBY WARREN and the cool cats and kitties from the long-running blues night at MJ’s Unique Social Club in south Los Angeles.
Bobby Warren plays the Blues with an authority borne of a life in this music. From his origin in 1950’s Mississippi, continuing over five decades, Bobby has shared sessions, stages and assorted diversions with the obscure and the legendary from Wilson Pickett to Randy Newman.
After experiencing a series of health setbacks that slowed his recorded output, Warren is back with a new album “The Comeback Project” reminding those who already knew, and informing those who didn’t, that LA still has authentic bluesmen if you know where to look which is MJ's Blues Show and Jam on Sunday nights and this event..
This event is the brainchild of ANDRAS JONES, an independent singer-songwriter/actor/author/podcaster who wandered into the Sunday night blues jam at MJ’s Unique Social Club and found a community of soulful and welcoming musicians that inspired a new batch of songs he started playing with the house band featuring TONY HITHE & LONNIE MITCHELL.
To pull the event together Andras joined forces with DENNIS “THE TALL GUY” SPENCER who is the co-organizer of the blues jams at MJ’s and a writer and performer of his own brand of LA-by-way-of-New York blues.
LA music veteran SOLOMON KING and charismatic newcomer, soul charmer DEDAN D. DIALS (two of the standout performers from MJ’s Sunday blues jam) round out the bill and will give folks in Hollywood a sense of the great music coming out of the scene at MJ’s.
The doors open at 7 for dinner and the show starts at 8pm.
