Join us for our November Jazz Party, featuring renowned musician, Bob Schulz! This month's event will be travel themed, so come in any sort of vintage travel inspired attire! Think anything from elegant travel suits with hat bags and train cases to Pan Am inspired wear, leather bomber jackets or maybe even come as a train conductor! Prizes to the best costumes and the best vintage luggage.ABOUT THE BAND:
The band will feature Bob Schulz, Don Neely, John Hunt, Jeff Hamilton, Bill Reinhart, Clint Baker and Steve Apple.
Bob Schulz began the Frisco Jazz band after his eight-year stint with Turk Murphy. Bob played with Turk Murphy first at the Earthquake McGoon's on the Embarcadero in San Francisco, then at Pier 39 and also at the New Orleans room at the Fairmont hotel.
The band is modeled after Bob Scobey’s band, and is named after the Frisco Railroad, since Bob Shultz has been an avid railroad fan and train collector since the 1970s. The band uses the name with permission from the Frisco Railroad Museum in Springfield Missouri.
Although band has gone through many personnel changes through the years, they preserve the music as it was played by some of the old great jazz artists, sprinkling in a little of their own spirit.
There's a beautiful outdoor patio, a huge dance floor, and lots of friendly faces! Haven't danced in a while? (Or ever?) No worries! There will be a dance lesson before the band begins!
COST: $12/advance, $15/door. Tickets are limited, so be sure and get yours before they're gone! Price of admission includes entry to dance lesson beforehand and entry to the dance party.
This event is put on by the South Bay Traditional Jazz Society, an organization dedicated to performance, promotion and preservation of traditional jazz.
