About this Event
As part of the SA May 2023 History Festival, the SA Aviation Museum will be hosting a free talk by outback pilot Bob Humphries.
Guests will be given free admission to the Museum to hear Bob take us back to the early 1970s when he was a pilot for regional airline Port Augusta Air Services (PAGAS).
Bob’s stories involve picking up injured and sick patients from the breadth of outback South Australia. Airstrips were often primitive and on one occasion a pilot landed on the Eyre Highway to pick up road accident victims. Other flying included passenger services to Adelaide, Port Pirie, Woomera and Kangaroo Island. Aircraft involved included a Cessna 402 twin, a Piper Cherokee 6 and a Britten Norman Islander.
Following the talk, we will move to the Museum's Hangar One for an informal Q&A session with Bob, after which guests are free to view other exhibits until closing time.
