he Boat Builders Show on Cape Cod returns January 31 - February 2 at the Hyport Conference Center, 35 Scudder Avenue in Hyannis, MA. Hours are Friday 2-7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.The show, created 19 years ago, raises the boating public’s awareness of the many talented, smaller, independent boat builders located on Cape Cod, the South Coast and the South Shore.
The three-day event is one of the few remaining boat shows in the country dedicated solely to providing boat owners, boat buyers and those individuals interested in boats and boat building with the opportunity to participate in a truly unique show experience. Show visitors get the chance to talk to each builder – the people who create and construct the many beautiful boats that will be on display. The combined experience of the exhibitors covers all types of boat construction from plank-on-frame to molded fiberglass to cold-molded composite construction. This assembly of builders have worked in all boat building processes. “The knowledge amassed at this one show under one roof is tremendous. They have done it all,” explained show organizer Scott Dayton.
This year, on Saturday come listen to: Adam Cove share his adventures in the Race to Alaska aboard his Marshall Sanderling and on Sunday, Nat Benjamin on traditional plank-on-frame construction. View demonstrations of building a Plymouth Rock’r rocking boat and a Cape Cod Frosty sailboat.
Additional exhibitors include marine-related businesses from sail makers to those in engine repair and re-powering, nautical books, coatings, marine technology, pennants and flags, marine canvas and more.
Whether looking for a new boat, maintaining an existing boat or simply passionate about boating and the ocean, this is a “can’t miss” show, said Dayton.
