This Talk will capture the experiences shared by a group of 15 cycling through Vietnam and Cambodia demonstrating what a great way it is to see and learn about these two fascinating countries; meeting local people, forming an impression of their culture and of life in the aftermath of the Vietnam war and the inequities of the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. Starting out among the temples and street food of Ho Chi-Minh City then transferring South to the tropical forests and farming areas of the Mekong Delta before slowly cycling north to the border town of Chau Doc and later arriving by hydro foil in the Capital, Phantom Pen, and then on to Siem Reap and the wonder that is Ankor Wat. A truly memorable trip!
Chris Carter gave the very first Boat Talk’s talk 21 years ago (A walk to the bottom of the Grand Canyon) so it is fitting that we come full circle with Chris giving our final Talk. Chris is well known to our audiences as he organised the Talks programme for the first 11 years, giving over 20 Talks himself. He has been an active resident of the Boat for 28 years and is a keen and excellent photographer - with many of his pictures on display in the Community Hall.
We hope you can join us for this very special finale; a terrific talk on a truly fascinating part of the world along with some memories (and maybe slides) from some early Talks. A fitting way to sign off!
