Australia thinks of itself as a land of prosperity and equality, but how true is this legend for the diverse families living in our nation’s most densely populated areas? Join Sweatshop Literacy Movement for readings from Povo, an original and eclectic new anthology that reveals the true wealth of Australia’s cultural melting pots.

Sara M Saleh is a writer, human rights lawyer, and the daughter of Palestinian, Lebanese and Egyptian migrants based on Bidjigal land. Her first novel, Songs for the Dead and the Living, was shortlisted for the 2024 NSW Premier's Awards.

Victor Guan Yi Zhou is a Cantonese-Australian emerging writer whose creative works have been shown with Voiceworks, Sydney Environment Institute and Verge Gallery.

Natalia Figueroa Barroso is a writer and member of Sweatshop Literacy Movement. Her poems and stories have been shortlisted for numerous awards.

Adrian Mouhajer is a Lebanese writer and editor who has performed their poetry for Bankstown Poetry Slam, Queerstories, Eulogy for the Dyke Bar and Cement Fondu.

Adam Novaldy Anderson is a writer and editor based out of Bankstown on Dharug land. He is the editor of Sweatshop collection, Povo, published in 2024.

Winnie Dunn is the general manager of Sweatshop Literacy Movement and the editor of several critically acclaimed anthologies including Sweatshop Women and Another Australia. Winnie's debut novel is Dirt Poor Islanders.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Blue Mountains, this unique literary festival brings together the country’s greatest minds and most exciting new talent. 1-3 November, 2024.
