New Zealand poet, author and playwright Dominic Hoey has written and performed two hit shows about his bone disease and his inability to get arts funding, collaborated on music / poetry hybrid projects, and seen his novels shortlisted for a slew of awards. A former MC battle and slam-poetry champion, his work explores class, access, mental health and chronic illness, with humour and clarity.
Join Dominic as he discusses his impressive back-catalogue, including Poor People With Money, I Thought We’d Be Famous and bestseller, Iceland, with artist, poet and frontman of Hip Hop outfit Horrorshow, Nick Solo.
Dominic Hoey is a poet, author and playwright based in Auckland, New Zealand. His novel, Iceland, was long-listed for the 2018 Ockham Book Award. He's released four successful poetry collections and is currently working on his third novel, 1985, due out on Penguin in March 2025.
Nick Solo is an artist, poet and songwriter best known for his work as the frontman of Hip Hop outfit Horrorshow. Over the course of a decade and a half long career, he has released seven studio albums via legendary Sydney-based label Elefant Traks, sold out countless tours and collaborated with some of the biggest names in Australian music.
