About this Event

Bmore Historic is a participant-led unconference at the Baltimore Museum of Industry for scholars, students, professionals and volunteers who care about public history, historic preservation and cultural heritage in the Baltimore region. Bmore Historic is organized by Baltimore Heritage and a team of volunteers. Special thanks to Hopkins Retrospective, Baltimore City Historical Society, Maryland Women's Heritage Center, University of Baltimore Department of History, UMBC Orser Center for Public Humanities, UMBC Dresher Center for the Humanities, UMBC Shriver Center, and the UMBC Department of History for supporting Bmore Historic in 2024.

As always, Bmore Historic is a unique opportunity to spend a day with friends, neighbors, and colleagues interested in exploring the connections between people, places and the past in Baltimore and Maryland. Bmore Historic is a place where many kinds of participation are welcoming: enthusiastic speaking out and careful listening; practicing hands-on skills and struggling with big issues. Expect thoughtful conversations but no academic papers or boring slideshows.

Please come out and explore how we can build on our community's cultural heritage to create a better future for all people in our region. If you have never participated in an unconference, please read our Bmore Historic 101 guide to learn more. If you're interested in facilitating a session, check out our facilitator guide.

How do I get to Bmore Historic?

If you are driving to Bmore Historic, there is a free parking lot at the Baltimore Museum of Industry limited to 40-50 vehicles. Please consider carpooling with a friend! The Baltimore Museum of Industry is also located a short walk from the Charm City Circulator Purple Route stop at Cross and Light Street or the Charm City Circulator Banner Route (Stop 406 or 415) and along the MTA LocalLink bus 71 route. You can also find bike racks right out front!

What do you eat at Bmore Historic?

We feed you! Your registration fee covers coffee and light breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available for lunch and we’ll do our best to accommodate your dietary needs.

What should you wear at Bmore Historic?

Bmore Historic is a come-as-you-are event where most participants will be casually dressed. We care more about the substance of what you have to say than what you wear while saying it.

How do I propose a session for Bmore Historic?

Check out our guide on how to propose an unconference session then submit your idea online.
