We are super excited to have Annette back in Switzerland! COUNTRY BLUES DEEP DIVE!
During this weekend, we’ll explore the many different and beautiful styles of early country blues music at all tempos and rhythms!
Whether it’s music from the Mississippi Delta with its rich rhythmic texture and gripping emotionality that will have us both stompin’ the blues but also immerse ourselves in slower, repetitive grooves. Or the playful, ragtime-based, fingerpicking blues styles from the Piedmont plateau area that may just bring out the goofball in us and have us travelling around the room in no time. Or even dancing in relaxed close embrace to the early great female blues singers of the Vaudeville theatre circuit, with their slower styles of blues anywhere from sad to raunchy.
In this workshop, we’ll tackle them all! Expect a quick overview of background history for each style, technique for both grooving solo and communicating with a partner, and ideas for adjusting our own grooving and partnering to emulate the differences in the styles with ease.

Menic’s music is rooted in the musical traditions around the Northern Atlantic and the Deep Blues you find up and down the Mississippi. His songs put you into places that you’ve never been, but feel you’ve always known. He turns his story into fiction so you might remember your own, and shows the dark side of his heart so you might find some peace. He lets you forget your every day if it looks too bleak, and makes you feel at home, right there where you are, in front of the stage or at the bar. Menic grew up near Boston, Massachusettes and now lives in Switzerland.
