About this Event

In celebration of International Women's Day, we invite you to attend our Bluestocking Salon: Simone de Beauvoir and The Second Sex! Join us at Christ Church GCR for an insightful discussion on the influential work and colourful life of Simone de Beauvoir. We'll be discussing themes of feminism, existentialism, and gender equality as we talk to Dr. Kate Kirkpatrick (Tutorial Fellow in Philosophy at Regent's Park College) about her excellent biography, Becoming Beauvoir: A Life (2019). It promises to be a thought-provoking and engaging experience, serving as an introduction to Beauvoir's key ideas with a chance to ask questions to a leading academic. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and familiarise yourself with a canonical feminist text. Complimentary drinks and refreshments will be served following the talk, and we encourage attendees to dress in their fineries for the ocassion. We hope to see you there!
