Experience the emotional and creative power of blues music in an intimate venue! Come down to the Barrel House on the evening of Friday December 19 to enjoy live acoustic blues music and a blues movie. Grab a drink and relax to a one-hour set of acoustic blues showcasing the "unplugged" side of acclaimed singer/songwriter/guitarist Tim "Too Slim" Langford.
Then settle in for a musical history lesson: a showing of the 2014 documentary "Take Me to the River." This 90-minute film celebrates the joyful community of the Memphis rhythm & blues music scene through a recording collaboration between legendary performers (Bobbie Blue Bland, Mavis Staples, Charlie Musselwhite, Booker T Jones) and younger talents (Snoop Dogg, The North Mississippi All-Stars, Lil P-Nut). Features interview clips, archival footage, and live studio cuts of music being created on-the-spot.
$10 at the door gets you a seat for the music and the movie.
