Join us for a deep-dive into funky blues!Funky blues is a dance style rooted in blues dancing but influenced by the upbeat, rhythmic, and syncopated elements of funk music. It combines the grounded, soulful movements of traditional blues dancing with playful, dynamic accents and sharper body isolations that reflect the funk groove.
The style encourages dancers to experiment with musicality, using hits, breaks, and syncopation in the music to guide creative movement. Funky Blues often incorporates a lot of attitude and personality, with room for improvisation, individuality, and a touch of sass. It's a fun, energetic, and expressive way to connect with funk-inspired blues music.
This workshop is aimed at intermediate dancers and up. We have a beginner intensive in the morning for newer dancers.

Blues is a family of african-american dances with varied rhythms, speeds and expresssion, and can be danced both partnered and solo. Most of them are danced primarily in closed embrace and are very focused on the connection between the dancers, while leaving plenty of room for individual expression and creativity.
During these classes we will follow the ELEF format - everybody leads, everybody follows, meaning you will learn both roles. As a bonus there are never any empty spots in the rotation. ;)
