This month we're very excited to welcome Dexter and Francesca Shaw!Father and daughter duo that share the love of early 50s Blues made popular by blues men such as muddy waters, little Walter, BB King among others.
Born in the 1950's in London, Dexter developed his love of blues and roots music listening to his mother's Rhythm & Blues records. He got his first guitar at 11 and started busking on the street - playing in the "San Fancisco Bay" jug Band - outside pubs and working men's clubs with some school friends. In the 80's and 90's he became a regular fixture on the happening London scene playing with Big Joe Louis and His Blues Kings, King David Purdy, Jeremiah Marquez, Gordon Smith and Little George Sueref. Although he now enjoys the quiet life of rural France he regularly returns to the UK to show us how it's done!
His daughter Francesca must be the most in demand double bass player in the world, certainly London! She's provided the low end groove to Remi Banklin, Rollo Markee, West Weston, JD Harmo & the Electrotones & Big Creek Slim to name but a few. She's also a phenomenal artist creating beautiful paintings inspired by her love of Blues & Roots music.
