About CRYING UNCLE
In 2018, Crying Uncle won the band contest at Pickin’ in the Pines, a major roots music festival in Arizona, competing against adult groups from all over the country. Since then, they’ve performed at the Grand Ole Opry, at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the High Sierra Music Festival, DelFest, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, and La Roche Bluegrass Festival in the French Alps, among many, many others. They’ve opened for Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives, for the Del McCoury Band, and for the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, among others. They’ve toured Japan, Korea, and Finland, and have released four albums. In 2023, Crying Uncle performed at David Grisman’s induction into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame, and they also won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Band of the Year Award. Each member of this band has received state and national awards, which should tell you a LOT about how hot the music will be this evening. https://www.cryingunclebg.com/
About THE BOBBY INGANO TRIO
A protégé of legendary lap steel guitarist, David "Feet" Rogers (Sons of Hawaii), Bobby Ingano is now a legend himself. He was featured as a soloist on three Grammy-winning Hawaiian music compilations, and tours frequently with Taj Mahal. Bobby is joined by guitarist Joseph Zayac (a nine-year veteran of Hawai‘i's premier Gypsy jazz band, Gypsy808) and the lovely Helene Woodward, herself a legend of Hawaiian music, on upright bass. On the evening of our concert, we're delighted to be joined by Kilin Reece of the Kealakai Center for Pacific Strings, who will present a short history of the Major Keakakai Martin dreadnought guitar and its place in Hawaiian and bluegrass history, with demonstrations by a few of our incredible performers.
