Radio Controlled model airplane gathering and camp out. Spectators are welcome (bring a chair if you'd like). Pilot fee $15 (details below). Main days of flying are Saturday 10/4 until Sunday afternoon 10/5. There will most likely be flying on evening of Friday the 3rd. All types of RC aircraft welcome. Gas turbines probably will not do well here. 500' turf runway. 4' fence at each end. Huge 300 acre flying area. Night flying is always fun out here too. There will be a brief pilot meeting Saturday morning to go over a few rules. Flying will be open all weekend with the exception of a fun spot landing competition Saturday late afternoon or evening. There is a first-place prize in this fun contest.
Visitors are always welcome. It's a great free family event to visit. Only thing we ask is to please watch your children because planes will be taxiing to and from the runway with engines running, and they cannot be quickly shut down. Please stay behind the safety fences along runway. It is not an airshow with a schedule and constant activity, but more laid-back fly-as-they-want schedule.
Campers are welcome to arrive and set up after 12pm on Friday 10/3. Please be aware of approaching traffic at entrance to field. If you have a big rig, it is best to arrive from the North. Free camping (no water or electric). Generators are fine. If we happen to have heavy rains prior to event, we will post site updates. If big rigs are a go/no-go we will post on our Bluegrass Flyers Facebook page. There will be a porta john with hand sanitizer at site. There are no facilities in the area to dump gray and blackwater tanks. No dumping at site. A Wal-Mart, Kroger, 5 Star, restaurants, etc. are within a few miles of the field. Nightly campfire.
Pilot donation of $15 covers entire weekend, and 1 entry in the raffle for the grand prize to be drawn Saturday around 5pm. Additional chances can be purchased for $1 each or 6 chances for $5. It also includes Saturday lunch for each pilot featuring delicious burgers, hot dogs, sides, drinks.
Saturday supper ($) will be heritage BBQ pulled pork and sides.
Any questions can be asked in this discussion or main page. See you soon!
