About this Event
After three years years of work and play, Bluebloods is releasing our debut album, “Discount Everything.” Members of the WSO — and of some of Canada’s most celebrated bands (we’ll tell you who later) — make appearances on an album that moves from house and hip hop to baroque pop. But for all its cosmo vibes, our album is fiercely regional. It unfolds against a backdrop of prairie skies, isolated towns, and abandoned mines, factories, and family farms. At our album launch, we're delighted to fill out our live sound with Paul Klassen (drummer), Tirian Plett (keyboardist) and CJ the Grey (rapper).
Also performing at the launch are:
Joyce German, known as INGIA, is a South Sudanese-Canadian vocalist and saxophonist fusing African influences with jazz, R&B, and gospel in Winnipeg’s music scene. A standout performer and arts advocate, she founded HERitage to uplift Black and POC women in the arts. Her name—an acronym for Intention, Nurture, Gratitude, Inspiration, and Amplify—reflects her mission to inspire and empower through music. In May 2025, she will release her debut EP Genesis, with proceeds supporting youth in South Sudan through her larger Project Genesis initiative.
Ali Wan Kenobi is "a leading local light of the new boom bap sound, lending an experimental touch to the warm, analogue flavour of the signature ’90s style." (Winnipeg Free Press.)
