WHAT’S YOUR BLUE RIDER STORY?Hi! We are filmmakers ShaunAnne Tangney and Adam Dyess, and we’re making a movie about the one and only, the world famous, the best bar in the world—the legendary Blue Rider bar in Minot, North Dakota!!
Why are we making a movie about the Blue? Because we love this bar! And because The Blue Rider really is unique—part dive bar, part art bar, fully a locals bar, but where truly everyone is welcome. The Blue Rider has a deep and meaningful place in history—in North Dakota history, in Minot history, in music history, in art history, in tavern history—and in YOUR history!
If you’re like us, you’ve spent more hours than you could ever count at The Blue Rider—wild nights, lazy afternoons, killer shows, tender moments, epic adventures, the sweet and the bittersweet—and we want YOU to be a part of our movie!
Indeed: the Blue Rider movie doesn’t happen without you! YOUR Blue Rider stories are THE Blue Rider story! So…

The bar will be open for business—and we will have our lights and cameras set up—but no formal interviews—just getting together and sharing stories at our favorite bar in the world! We are aiming for the natural and the organic, not the stiff and the formal! Just—come on down to The Blue, hang out with your friends, have some beers, and stop by and tell us your Blue Rider Story.
We’ve been working on this movie for about seven months now, and we have learned so much—and the one thing we know for sure is—everybody has a Blue Rider story..! And we can’t wait to hear yours! And hey—we’ll sing for our supper: share a story with us and your first beer in on us!
