A Blue Christmas service, also known as the Longest Night service, is a Christian tradition held around the winter solstice (December 21st) to provide comfort and a sacred space for those who are grieving or finding the Christmas season difficult. This service will acknowledge pain, loss, loneliness, or depression during a time of forced cheerfulness and offer a communal refuge to name sorrows and find solace and hope in faith. We want to provide a spiritual and emotional refuge for those who are struggling, acknowledging that not everyone feels joy during the holidays. We will provide a place to name and pray about feelings of sadness, disappointment, anxiety, or fear.
The atmosphere is intimate and comforting, offering a contrast to the pressure of public holiday celebrations.
