Each year the Abbey Church of Dunfermline holds a Blue Christmas Service offering a quieter more reflective space for those who are missing loved ones from their lives and homes and for those who feel at odds with the merriment of the season. We hope that the Blue Christmas Service offers time to remember those from our congregation and parish who have died during the past year.
The service allows time for the memories of those who have experienced bereavement and offers space for those who want to encounter the breadth of emotions that are experienced at this time of year, reminding us that all these emotions are part of the Nativity stories of the Gospels. It is a place of stillness, lifting us out of the hurried preparations.
