Summary
The Revive Initiative's program at Stanford Children's Health provides a unique learning environment that is based on the scientific evidence of the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. The goal of this course is to provide a foundation for saving lives from cardiac arrest, with a focus on high quality CPR and team dynamics.

Course Learning Objectives
- The importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival
- All of the Steps of the Chain of Survival and to apply the BLS concepts of the Chain of Survival
- Recognize the signs of a person needing CPR
- Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children and infants
- The importance of early use of an AED and demonstration of its use
- Provide effective ventilations while using a barrier device
- The importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performing as an effective team member
- The technique for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
Continuing Education
As per California Board of Registered Nursing policy, this course does not qualify for CE's.

- Educational Reimbursement (LPCH Employees Only): Eligible employees need to secure prior approval from their managers through AccessHR. As per Stanford Children's Health Reimbursement Guidelines, the employee must then submit the credit card receipt and proof of completion for reimbursement.

Course Materials
- : Prior to attending course, please purchase and complete the online BLS HeartCode module. Once module and post-survey are completed, you'll receive Completion Certificate which you'll need to turn in as a printout at BLS course.

BLS Course Completion eCards
Upon completion of all BLS course options, you will receive a AHA BLS course completion card valid for 2 years. This card will be emailed from [email protected] to the address submitted with registration by 5pm of the course date.

1. BLS Provider
- Summary: Recommended for Healthcare Providers new to BLS or those seeking renewal of current BLS certification with a thorough refresher
- Course Length: 3 hour in-person, instructor led session
2. BLS Recertification
- Summary: Recommended for Healthcare Providers seeking renewal of current BLS certification.
- Course Length: Est. 1-1.5 hours online (eSims, eLearning, Exam) + 1 hour in-person skills session
- Description: Blended learning course includes a self-directed online BLS HeartCode eLearning module followed by a hands-on session for skills practice and testing.
- Prerequisite: Online BLS HeartCode course must be completed prior to attending skills session. Once done, bring a printout of Completion Certificate to hand in at skills session.
