About this Event

Help the Burnaby Lake Weedbusters at Burnaby Lake Nature House

The BLPA has set up a large area behind the Burnaby Lake Nature House to help remove the invasive Himalayan blackberry from our park. The work today will focus on removing the blackberry vines that have grown at the edges of the large areas of tarp that were placed earlier in the season. We will slip and prune the taller vines, as well as dig up the larger root bulbs to ensure further growth cannot occur.

We will meet in front of the Nature House.

Tool and safety training will be provided.

This event will be limited to 10 volunteers.

What to bring
  • Water bottle, and your work/garden gloves and tools if you prefer.
  • Dress for the weather - layers, rain or shade hat, clothes you don't mind getting dirty or torn (blackberry can be vicious), closed-toe sturdy shoes
  • Anything you need for your comfort and safety, e.g. Medic*tion
