Mechanics’ Institute once again joins the annual world-wide celebration of James Joyce’s epic novel ULYSSES with a community gathering.
About this Event

Set entirely on one day – June 16, 1904 – Ulysses follows Leopold Bloom and Stephen Daedalus as they go about their daily business in Dublin, Ireland. It's a vast and colorful exploration of this iconic Irish city and the inner lives and passions of its endearing characters.

Mechanics’ Institute once again joins the annual world-wide celebration of James Joyce’s epic novel with a community gathering and readings. Join this exuberant evening of Irish music, open mic readings, and culinary delights. This year will feature readings from YOU, our Joycean celebrants! Bring your book or selections in hand to read. (3 minutes max please!)

The evening will also include musical interludes and songs with Anne Bingham Goess (fiddle, vocals) and Ellen Hoffman (piano), with singers and actors John Ilyin, Esther Mulligan, and Simon Winheld. Wear your festive Bloomsday best and bring your friends. A Bloomsday Dessert will be served and libations will be available for purchase.

Co-sponsored by Consulate General of Ireland of San Francisco
