This month we will continue our journey through the history of horro with a brilliant psychological examination of criminal insanity. Published in 1948, Wisteria Cottage by Robert M. Coates earned rave reviews but fell out of print several decades ago. Until now!
As a writer of fiction, Coates is considered a member of the Lost Generation, having spent part of his life abroad in Europe. His first three novels are highly experimental, drawing upon Dada, surrealism and expressionism for their effect. His last two novels are examples of crime fiction in which the narrator presents a psychopathological case study of the protagonist.
Anthony Boucher praised Coates as "one of the most persuasive recorders of the unaccountable and disturbing moment," so we are very excited to dive into this novel together!
SPACE IS LIMITED, RSVP IS REQUIRED.
As your struggling, neighborhood bookstore, we ask that you please support local by purchasing your book directly from us to participate in this free meetup.
