Help us celebrate MOTHER'S DAY with this installment of our "Bloody Mary presents..." series. The feature film is preceded by one short film and a gratis Bloody Mary drink (with or without alcohol) and your ticket is good for everything.
18.30 = CAFÉ OPENS // Tickets are 100 kr. // No reservation via Email / Ticket includes a Bloody Mary drink (or a "virgin" non-alcohol version)
19.30 = SHORT FILM: DARK WATER (2019) by Erin Coats and Anna Nazzari followed by “TITANE," directed by Julia Ducournau, 2021, 108 minutes (French dialogue with English sub-titles) //
Called the most shocking film of 2021, ‘Titane’ (Julia Ducournau, France) tackles the fragility of the flesh, the performance of gender and palpable bodily anxieties in mind-bending fashion. In ‘Titane’, a woman with a titanium plate fitted in her head and a violent passion for cars takes us on a wild, bizarre and murderous ride. When she meets a man who is convinced she’s his long-lost son, identity gets blurrier and something sinister is born. If you’re into fast cars, murder, gender theory and love on the big screen, join us.

Our café opens one hour before the film.

Bloody Mary is a film club and community for all those with a thirst for feminist horror. Whether you’re a passionate enthusiast of all things creepy or a curious final girl, join us to dive into campy, gory, horrific cinema that rips out the guts from patriarchal narratives.
While most cinema focuses on men as the protagonists and pushes women into supporting roles, the picture looks devilishly different in the horrorscape. Here, we see more female main characters than in any other genre. We see them fight against the evil will of men, be haunted by motherhood and feel the gore of their adolescent bodies. We cheer for them when they seek justice over the systems that have failed them, claim bloody revenge over their perpetrators and ascend to new levels of empowerment through nature and witchcraft.
Although we have our soft spot for a good, ‘ole 70s grindhouse slasher, the horror genre has evolved quite a bit over the past few decades. Narratives are becoming more nuanced and deeper, and we’re seeing more and more women and non-binary folks in the directing chair. So, Bloody Mary is here to give spooky space and vivid voice to our beloved community of film geeks and freaks. Over the coming months, we’ll present you with evenings where you can feast on two films each time: an underground short from an upcoming auteur that puts intersectionality and minority-led narratives at the bloody heart — and a classic, feminist horror flick.… We’re looking forward to seeing you. And if we’re lucky, we’ll spot Bloody Mary herself in the bathroom at the cinema, too.
