BloodSisters: Leather, Dykes and Sadomasochism, a film by Michelle Handelman, is a 1995 documentary about mid-90s leatherdyke culture in San Francisco. This is a classic you don't want to miss.
Film screening starts at 6:45pm. Snacks, music, and mingling before and after.
Cruise in-person and check out the Charis Classifieds binder at the back of the store. Find your freaks the old fashioned way.
Heavy Breathing is an Atlanta based queer and trans COVID-conscious kink and leather project.
In-person event guidelines:
- KN95/N95 masks required at all times indoors, and provided.
- Seating for the film is limited! If you want to ensure a seat, arrive at 6pm. If you need a seat for accessibility reasons, email [email protected].
- Snacks served outside.

$5-$10 suggested donation, no one turned away for lack of funds! Donations accepted at the door (cash or card payment on the Heavy Breathing website. Venmo/cashapp also accepted by special request).

ADDITIONAL ACCESSIBILITY DETAILS:
The film will screen with English audio and English captions. This event requires attendees to wear KN95 or N95 masks while indoors, and masks will be available in the space. Air purifiers will also be in use. Food and drink will be stationed on the front porch sitting area.
Charis Books is a fully wheelchair accessible space. There are two ramps for entrance. Bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and gender neutral with motion activated fixtures. Both bathrooms have wheelchair accessible baby changing tables. Directional signs at Charis are written in braille.
The space has all LED lighting. The space is not scent or chemical free but Charis aims to minimize the use of chemicals and scents throughout the space and uses low VOC materials whenever possible.
PARKING: You can park in the large shared lot behind Charis and to the right of the building, or use accessible/van accessible parking to the left of the building.
MARTA Directions: Charis is located nearest to the Decatur MARTA station on the Blue Train Line. It is a .07 mile walk from the Decatur MARTA station to Charis (usually about 15 minutes). It is wheelchair accessible the entire way. Charis is also located near the Avondale MARTA station. It is a .09 mile walk (usually about 23 mins). It is wheelchair accessible the entire way. The #15 bus drops you off right in front of the store.
