Courses applicable only for those organisations within the Surrey Heartlands area who are 'CQC Registered to deliver clinical care’ within Nursing/Residential Care Homes.

This course is aimed at Health Care Support Workers or those new to working in a health or care setting. The content of the course is reflective of this and covers basic skills at an introductory level.
This course is an INTRODUCTORY level and therefore not appropriate for NMC registered staff
Session Includes:
- Legislation and good practice
- Diabetes: a brief overview of diabetes type 1 and type 2; how it might be managed
- Blood Glucose Monitoring: equipment and procedure; results
- Subcutaneous injection of insulin: Policy, anaphylaxis, anatomy of skin and injection sites; preparation of patient and equipment; giving the injection; consent; how to inject insulin; use of prefilled pens; recording results

Sessions will take place in the Clinical Training Suite at Woking Community Hospital between 13:30 - 16:30 on the following dates:

Please note that all sessions are training only and post-competency will need to be signed off by your employer organization. Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance which they can add to their professional portfolio.
