Megan and Diego will take you through the full printing process, learning how to rewire our brains to see light and objects in the inverse and create art that both challenges and augments our vision of reality. In this short course, we aim to teach not only the fundamentals of learning how to see the negative space, applying drawing to linoleum, and the techniques of carving, but also the history of printmaking as resistance and resilience across the world. We will divide our time between seeing the negative space, drawing in reverse and inverse, transferring drawing to linoleum, carving techniques, and finally leaving the session with a print, or a few, to take home. Participants are encouraged to bring small items (such as flowers, knickknacks, etc) or photos as inspiration and practice.Class date/time: 03/27 from 5:30-8:30
Class size/age: Ages 13+, 10 person max
Class cost: $35.

Instructor Bios:
Diego is a nonprofit marketing communications expert and sustainability & public lands advocate. Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains with a love of natural spaces, Diego has applied his passions for the outdoors and storytelling through multimedia content creation across the Colorado Plateau. While not producing podcasts, videos, writing, or snapping photos within the realms of environmentalism, the outdoors, and community spaces, you can find Diego block printing, building trails, climbing towers, and baking sourdough loaves.
Megan is a creative rambler, community stoker, and desert romper. On the clock, she shares stories and programs at the Moab Museum and co-founded ephemeral, an arts collective and resource hub on the Colorado Plateau with a print magazine. She tends to stumble into (and out of) a new hobby about once a season, though taking photos, making prints, and playing outside stay around for the long haul.
