Blindness Orientation Training- For Employers and Business Community

The Business Outreach One Stop Team (BOOST) is excited to partner with Idaho's Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ICBVI) to offer an exclusive Blindness Orientation Training for employers. This hands-on training will provide valuable insights into creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for employees with visual impairments.


Training Details:

  • Date: March 25th, Tuesday
  • Time: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Location: 341 W. Washington, Boise
  • Dress Code: Casual to business casual (keep in mind, mobility training is more comfortable without heels 😃)
  • Lunch: Bring your own lunch or money to walk/drive downtown for lunch (lunch is not provided)


What You’ll Learn:

This full-day training session will cover:

  • Mobility-Assisted Devices: Experience firsthand how mobility devices help individuals with visual impairments navigate and perform everyday tasks.
  • Braille: Gain a better understanding of Braille, its importance, and its applications in the workplace.
  • Independent Living Skills: Learn the skills that enable individuals to live and work independently, from personal care to time management.
  • Assistive Technology: Discover the tools that assist people with visual impairments in their daily tasks and work responsibilities.
  • Interactive Workshops: Participate in workshops focused on working with power tools and hands-on projects. Learn how individuals with visual impairments can successfully navigate these tasks, demonstrating the adaptability and resourcefulness of employees with visual challenges.
