If you can you should come along to the Robin Hood on Saturday (6th December) for 3 pm when the minister (in the presence of the Mayor) will bless the pumps. It is the feast of St Nicholas, the patron saint of brewers and innkeepers.The blessing of the pumps is a quirky tradition that dates back hundreds of years and involves sprinkling holy water on the pumps and saying a prayer at the pub’s doors, bar, kitchen, garden and, less glamorously, the toilets.
