About this Event
Leave your problems at the door and be part of something eyebrow raising and smirk jerking. BLAND is show that has all the grandeur of something extraordinary but still feels like something you can wrap yourself in. It’s a hangout, it’s a show, it’s a night out where familiarity meets the thrill of uncertainty. A cocktail of four acts, live music, poetry, stand up and sketch. Also – vinyl bingo. Support emerging talent.
Christina
‘The incredible winner of the audience vote at our October Poet’s Palace Norwich show! They had us all utterly captivated with their beautiful and relatable poetry and performance style.’ Christina is a poet and creative from Norfolk, UK. They began sharing their work at a local open mic night in February 2024 and fell in love with performing. Their writing focuses on friendship, grief, nature and joy - some heartbreak. They hope to inspire you to see magic in the everyday.
The Earlham Bus Incident
Norwich’s premier sketch troupe, The Earlham Bus Incident, brings together the finest comedy talent the fine city has to offer. With six stellar shows under their belts, this bus shows no signs of stopping. Hop on board for a ride filled with superbly silly sketch comedy! Will you meet Unthanks’ most credible detective, Mona Ravona? Or Schmevil Schmurderer, the evilest person everrr? Perhaps Big Foot will make an appearance—or even Judge Foodie!
The cast of EBI come from all walks of life. They originally met under a bridge in NR3, huddling around an old oil bin for warmth. They've come a long way since then and are now one of Norwich’s hottest sketch groups. Most surprising of all? None of them do drugs— they’re just a little bit crazy! Get a taste of their unique brand of comedy at BLAND and keep an eye out for their next show! Everyone who’s been leaves with their sides hurting from laughter.
Spitting Image
"Open yr. head" to a new, hyper-electric rumble—howling success, over-amped fodder. Singer and guitarist Gabby was left in a well and forgotten about for six weeks. His most memorable music moment? Auditioning for Goldsmiths with his flute (Grade 100), still gurning from the night before (see YouTube). Evan, vocals and guitar, is the tallest in the band at a towering 5'7". He’s an endless fountain of talent and earwax. Lecky, on bass, is a real nice guy—but it’s a shame he’s a Pisces and won’t lend me three bucks for my Mother’s Day spectacular. Louis is one of the most talented drummers I’ve ever seen. I once had sex with Robert Plant. Louis, however, was a fat baby, and his mother and I used to use him as a doorstop—a fire door, specifically. Spitting Image is the band you want to follow. You can tell these guys have been friends for life. The chemistry on stage is worth more than quaaludes—and feels even better. Watch them before they break up, because they’re all stupid idiots. Open yr. head.
