About this Event

Blackwell's Sabbat Sessions are a series of free events that take place throughout the year to coincide with key dates in the Witches' calendar. These events are hosted by Blackwell's Bookseller, Beverley Wass.

Imbolc

Imbolc is a pagan festival marking the halfway point between winter solstice and the spring equinox, celebrating the first signs of spring and the reawakening of the earth. It signifies purification, hope, and new beginnings, with traditions often honoring the Celtic goddess Brigid, associated with healing, poetry, and fire. The name "Imbolc" is thought to mean "in the belly" or "ewe's milk," referring to the pregnancy of the earth and the lambing season.
