Our third session at BlackmoorThe heavy rain due on Friday and Saturday is forecast to have passed, and it should be cool at around 10°C, with a light wind. It will be overcast, and the paths are likely to be muddy!
Please let Alex know if you’ll be joining by signing up for the session “Blackmoor Copse – Coppicing (W3W: cautious.poses.hops)”, at 10:00, Sunday 16 November 2025, and register if it’s your first time with the SWG at https://volunteering.wiltshirewildlife.org/volunteers/opportunity/10193770 .
We’ll meet by the picnic table at the end of the track off the Ben Lane gate to the reserve, about 300 metres south of Farley. Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy boots for working with the hazel and birch. As it remains quite warm, there’s still a high chance of picking up ticks, so long sleeves and trousers are advisable!
Blackmoor has a wide range of wildlife – as well as ticks – with many diverse fungi currently fruiting, and there’s also an opportunity to collect acorns for future tree planting projects!
