Melanin In Motion and Pimento Jamaican Kitchen are teaming up for a "pop-up" to shed some "blacklight" on one of the great events of Minnesota's Winter - The Luminary Loppet. We will offer a night of celebration before the Luminary Loppet on Feb. 8th with a special MIM meetup at Pimento on Bde Maka Ska for the warmth of community and Caribbean food. After a little spirit-warming Jamaican soup, stews, and coconut bread, while we line step and line dance led by J Most and the Command Steppers - we will head over to Lake of the Isles to experience one of Minnesota’s most extraordinary art installations - the Luminary Loppet on Lake of the Isles- in the warm confines of the community. Arrive at 6:00 pm for music, dancing, fire pits, The smooth Sounds of KMOJ's Walter Q-Bear Banks, warm beverages, and the best that winter has to offer. Did I say line dancing with Q Bear? Tickets to the Luminary Loppet are included for 3 family members - a 90 dollar value - Thanks Loppet!, food is on you. Tommie and team are putting together specially priced offerings - please support Pimento on the Lake. We will depart by 7:30/8:00 pm for the Luminary. The Luminary Loppet is planned as the full installation on the Lake of the Isles and is not to be missed. This event is free and registration is required. Tickets will go fast. Please plan Parking will include a short walk from the North Lot. Meters are enforced.
