BLACKBERRY SMOKE: BE RIGHT HERE TOUR is rolling into The DAM on Saturday, May 25, 2024. This will be the 2nd consecutive year the band has brought their “… famous Blackberry Smoke autonomy, delivered with soulful vocals, haunting harmonies, and kick-ass songs (~NPR)” to Beaver Dam, Kentucky, on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. Special guest and Grand Champion of the 2023 Sesquicentennial Battle of the DAM Bands, The Scarecrows, will be direct support on this tour date, part of the 2024 First United Bank & Trust Concert Series.
Heath Eric, a promoter with The Eric Group, said, “Earlier this year, we had record Memorial Day Weekend attendance at The DAM with Blackberry Smoke. We are thrilled they are returning in 2024 and hope to make this an annual ‘Kentucky Homecoming’ for Blackberry Smoke and all their fans. It’s a special experience, that’s for sure. If you were there last time, you know. Get your tickets early and join us.”
Tickets are available as Lower Arena Reserved Tables for Four (4) people, Lower Arena GA, and Lawn GA. Reserved Tables in sections 1 through 5 include dedicated F&B table service, touch-free payment (allowing guests to order food & beer from their phones), and access to the PIT area directly in front of the stage. Lower Arena GA tickets include seats and access to the pit. Lawn GA tickets allow guests to bring a small folding chair or blanket. Tickets start at just $19.50 per person. Hotel and Shuttle packages are also available.
Eric added, “We’ve made several improvements to enhance “THE DAM” experience for fans. These include a new gate location with space for much more capacity at the point of entry, additional lines, and efficient entry procedures. Additionally, table ticket holders will no longer need to arrive together for entry. Those who purchase tables will receive four (4) unique tickets - one for each seat at the table - and party members can now arrive separately. The team is also focused on providing expedited table service. We have some exciting surprises in store, so stay tuned.”
American rock band Blackberry Smoke has become known for a singular sound indebted to classic rock, blues, country, and folk. When Charlie Starr started writing the songs that would become Blackberry Smoke’s new album, Be Right Here, the first tune the vocalist/lead guitarist worked up was “Dig A Hole.” Formed by an old guitar riff married with a Wurlitzer chorus riff written by keyboardist Brandon Still, the swampy psychedelic-rock song is a powerful statement about choosing your path in life—whether you want to give into temptation or walk a more righteous road.
“Dig A Hole” is the lead track on Be Right Here and sets the tone for another expansive set of rock ‘n’ roll from Blackberry Smoke. As always, the Georgia-based band—Starr, Still, guitarist/vocalist Paul Jackson, bassist/vocalist Richard Turner, and drummer Brit Turner—draw inspiration from Southern rock, blues-leaning classic rock, and rootsy vintage country. But on Be Right Here, Blackberry Smoke sound even more self-assured, from the strength of their songwriting to their musical execution.
Over the past two decades, Blackberry Smoke has developed this confidence and amassed a loyal fanbase, leading their last five full-length albums to achieve great chart success, including 2021’s You Hear Georgia, which reached #1 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart.
“In life, we all are faced with choices,” Starr says. “Are we going to do good, or are we going to do bad? Are we going to love, or are we going to hate? We have a finite amount of time, each of us on this Earth. So probably want to make the best out of it instead of wasting time.”
The band wrote and recorded You Hear Georgia during the most intense periods of the pandemic but held off on releasing it until they could go tour again. Starr says Blackberry Smoke took the same deliberate approach with Be Right Here, which was recorded in late 2022 and early 2023, around the same time drummer Brit Turner was diagnosed with a type of brain tumor known as Glioblastoma. “We didn’t feel a whole lot of pressure to go in and make this one quickly,” Starr shares. Today, Turner continues to receive treatment while remaining an active and steadfast force in the band.
Working once again with Grammy-Award winning producer Dave Cobb, Blackberry Smoke has crafted music that’s raw and immediate-sounding. They tracked the album live in the same space; an approach Cobb also prefers as it lends itself to a looser vibe. “I remember different times I would say, ‘I think we should redo that,’ and he’s like, ‘No, leave it that way. That way it’s magical,” Starr remembers. “It’s just as natural and real as possible.”
For Blackberry Smoke, embracing the light and finding the silver lining are once again at the heart of what they do best.
The Scarecrows, a dynamic band that emerged on the music scene in 2020, was founded by the talented duo Cory Rowe and Willy Scruggs. Fueled by their passion for music, they began crafting soul-stirring songs and captivating audiences with electrifying performances. As their fanbase grew, they welcomed Rocky Covington, a powerful vocalist and skilled drummer, into their ranks. Together, they crafted a unique sound that resonated with listeners, blending heartfelt lyrics with powerful melodies and crazy harmonies.
The Scarecrows quickly became known for their energetic live shows and intricate vocal arrangements, earning them a dedicated following. With their creative synergy and unwavering determination, The Scarecrows continue to leave an indelible mark on the music industry, captivating audiences worldwide with their extraordinary talent and mesmerizing harmonies.
