About this Event
Celebrate Black History Month 2025 with us at United Nations Headquarters! Black Women in Diplomacy & United Nations Headquarters Black History Tour is a one-day program that begins with a classroom lesson that celebrates the contributions of black women in U. S. diplomacy. Students will then visit the United Nations for a UN briefing and the United Nations' Black History Tour. The following is a description of the United Nations Black History Tour. Recommended for girls ages 9-17.
The Black History-themed Tour of the United Nations will grant students a unique look at the Ark of Return, a permanent memorial in honor of the victims of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade, located on the United Nations Visitors Plaza. The special tour will also include access to the Security Council Chamber, the Trusteeship Council Chamber and the General Assembly Hall (meetings permitting). You will learn about the contribution of people of African descent to the work of the United Nations in fields such as peace and security and human rights, with a special emphasis on decolonization.
